Brenda D. Bateman, Owner

For more than thirty-five years, I have had the blessing and privilege to design and transform residences, vacation homes and commercial settings for friends, family and complete strangers (who quickly became dear friends!). Working in all phases of design, from initial space planning with architects, down to the pillows on a sofa, my passion is creating clean, classic design that defines my clients.

The broad range of styles in my portfolio speaks to my regard for highlighting clients’ individual styles more than a singular personal style. For 15 years, I have designed for a regional bank with a very traditional aesthetic. At the same time, I have completed modern, new construction commercial spaces. Residential clients also span the traditional to modern gamut with a range of southern to global influences.

When all art is hung and each accessory is in place, my greatest reward is to have a fully satisfied client who is thrilled with the finished product and who immediately feels right at home.

When I'm not working, I enjoy time with my husband Bill between Raleigh and our longtime home on the Pamlico river; serving at my church; soaking up my sweet grandchildren who live in Durham and London; and international travel (to England, of course) whenever possible!

Kelsey Hymel, Associate Designer

In 2016, Kelsey joined Brenda to help handle a steadily increasing amount of residential and commercial work. Kelsey graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in public relations in 2012. She worked in PR for a few years while obtaining her certificate in Interior Design through the New York Institute of Art and Design. Kelsey has lived in Raleigh with her husband since 2013, and now has two little boys at home!
